I was wondering which mix would be best for wideband matching transformers (baluns and ununs) operating in the 1.8 to 30Mhz range? I have used the 61 mix and thought it worked well but am wondering if the 52 or 43 mix would be better.

    Thanks

    Hi Dave-

FR61 and FR52 would be my choices for your typical balun or impedance matching transformer for HF. Both should give equally good performance on 160 through 10 meters.

    Gentlemen,

Your comments about ferrite toroids applicable to the HF bands from
roughly 1 to 30 MHz are interesting, especially since a plethora
of contributors to Balun discussions have recently focused on
49:1 and 9:1 balun construction for Low Band, High Band, End-Fed
Half-Wave and End-Fed Random Wire transformers and antennae.

What is slightly confusing to me is to read about the popularity
of Mix 43 toroids in circumstances where Mix 61 is touted as well.

If Mix 61 is as good a performer in transformer duty as described,
what then are applications where Mix 43 is a viable competitor, please?

    Thanks!
